Douglas graduated from The University of Glasgow in 1999. He has worked in general practice since that time, and he has developed a broad range of experience and knowledge in all aspects of dentistry.

​

In general practice, he developed a special interest in cosmetic, restorative and implant dentistry. In 2002, he worked alongside a specialist in prosthodontics in the Isle of Skye for three years, restoring implants and learning all aspects about placing them. He completed a four-year postgraduate Masters in Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) at the esteemed King’s College London in 2013. His final year dissertation was about the ceramic restoration of implants using the notable CEREC technique. He placed his first implant in 2008 and for 2 years he attended the Royal College of Surgeons (England) for various courses in implant dentistry.

Douglas is committed to life-long learning and keeps abreast of the latest techniques through attending a broad range of courses. He is a member of the International Team for Implantology and regularly participates in the local study group in the North-East of Scotland. In 2014, he became one of the principal owners at Oldmeldrum Dental Practice and in 2018 he came the Principal owner.

Douglas takes great pride in not only transforming patients’ smiles but also ensuring patients’ long-term functionality. He is acutely aware of the importance of patients’ getting value for money and will always take time to discuss all possible treatment options with a patient to ensure that they understand and have confidence in the service provided.

​

In his spare time, Douglas enjoys spending time with his family, especially his nephew and nieces. He was a competitive swimmer when he was younger becoming British University & Scottish National Champion and in 2014, he took part at the World Masters breaking the Scottish record for his age group. He participates and watches many other sports including sailing, cycling, skiing and boxing. He also enjoys travelling, learning about other cultures and discussing current affairs.
